Pearlscale Goldfish Part II

About a year ago, I got my hands upon a couple of Pearlscale goldfish and it was very fun to have those cute, puffed-up fishes swimming around in the aquarium. I recently got my hands on a batch of the same type of goldfish for retailing on my online store, MAGS-Pets and imagine the fun of watching all of them together. These will still change their color, especially those plain bronze colored ones. They are placed in the small tank temporarily only for picture-taking and was returned to their much bigger sized enclosure afterwards. If they don’t all get sold, I hopefully will be posting an update on them, especially when they have developed their coloration.

This blog has been very quiet for so long and I really do wish that I can try to liven it up a bit by frequently adding up new posts. Why is regular water change important?

Should we be wasting our time doing regular water change? Is it really that important? The real question here is why shouldn't we? Doing regular water changes is the basic way for ensuring that the environment our aquatic pets live in is not only aesthetically pleasing to our eyes but most important of all, is fit for the general well-being of our aquatic pets and their surroundings. Some beginners in the aquatic pet hobby think that the only reason why we need to do water change is for water clarity. A clear water as a matter of fact doesn’t mean that your tank water is clean. It is just the same as a drinking water. Being clear doesn’t mean that it is fit for drinking. It could contain harmful chemical which are not visible to the naked eye but are unhealthy for you. Meet Mr. Rovoshki

I got Mr.Rovoshki from a local goldfish breeder here in Iligan City. Initially there were five of them, which were of similar size but different colors and patterns, living in an aquarium where I used sand as substrate. Apparently, sand and goldfishes doesn't work very well (I learned of this the horrible way) and sadly enough Mr.Rovoshki was the only survivor. I temporarily housed him in a bowl with a clay pot that serves as his "man cave" and he has a little shrimp buddy to accompany him in the bowl. He's always hungry that's why whenever I go near him he's excited thinking I’m going to shower him with food. Goldfishes like Mr. Rovoshki have thick domed scales that gives them its pearl-like appearance hence the name Pearlscales.
